“This is a really fun place. So much fun memorabilia to look at in this quirky little restaurant and the food is delish. I had the fried shrimp and homemade parmesan chips and my hubby had the tequila chicken and both were great. The first thing that stood out for me was that the food was seasoned well. So often restaurants lately go light on seasoning and many times you have to add salt because the food is bland but not at Ate Track. This chef knows how to season food! This stacked stone and siding home is decorated with a wrought iron door at the entrance, and features a spacious open concept living and kitchen space. You may be asking yourself, is now a good time to build a custom home? Some clients may have reasons to wait, but for most people, now is the perfect time to start building your new custom home, and here’s why.

Finding the right property to build your custom home can be challenging, but with more and more land being claimed, it’s best to get it while you can. The 2021 housing market is great for sellers, but the demand for homes is greater than available inventory. Lots are getting purchased for new home construction, so it’s important to choose your desired location and get land while you still can. By purchasing your lot now, you can build your own custom dream home in the perfect location for you!

  1. Financing

With interest rates low, now is the ideal time for financing a new custom home. While construction prices may seem high, the low interest available after the Federal Reserve slashed rates recently means saving big money on a mortgage. This opportunity won’t be available forever, and in 2021 you can likely pay less than you might have back in 2019! It’s a great time to take advantage of low interest rates while you can!

  1. Plan now

Building a custom home takes time, from purchasing supplies and designing a floor plan, all the way to construction and move-in. Think about when you want your home to be move-in ready, and plan now to achieve that goal.

North Georgia offers tons of spectacular places to build a custom home, but what about those who have to commute to work in and around Atlanta? Luckily, these north Georgia communities allow you to live where you want, and still commute to the city in a short amount of time.

Cherokee County

With access to Atlanta via major thoroughfares like Interstate-575 and Highway 20, Cherokee County is just a short drive from the big city. Most areas in Cherokee have about a 35-55 minute drive to the heart of downtown Atlanta, but you can reach the perimeter in as little as 20 minutes, making this north metro community a great choice for those who will be commuting to Atlanta for work.

Pickens County

Another great choice for daily commuters is Pickens County. Located just north of Cherokee, this county is located just under an hour from the city. For those who don’t mind a bit longer drive to work, Pickens offers a more secluded natural landscape, while still being within commuting distance from downtown I-575 and Highway 20.

Bartow County

Situated slightly more west of Atlanta are cities like Cartwerville and Emerson, which can have as little as a 35-minute drive to the city. A short commute on I-75 or Highway 20 can get you directly to the heart of Atlanta, making Bartow another great choice for those who want to live in north Georgia and have a shorter commute.

Gilmer County

Depending on how far you’re comfortable commuting to and from work, Gilmer County might be another option for those who want to live in the mountains but be close enough to still drive into the city. With a trip of a little over an hour from Ellijay to the perimeter, Gilmer County may be a good choice for those who only have to go into the city a few times a week.

Gordon County

Another option that’s about an hour drive from the I-285 perimeter is Gordon County. With plenty of natural peace and solitude, those who don’t mind a bit longer commute may choose this county. It’s also a great place for people who only occasionally have to make their way into Atlanta.

Dawson County

Finally, Dawson County offers a third option for living in northwest Georgia, while still being only a little over an hour away from Atlanta. If this sounds like the right distance for you, Dawson also offers a wonderful place to live without being too far from the city.

Gordon

1. Fall Branch Falls

“We really enjoyed this hike. I took on this hike with my 3 kids and in-laws. It was a beautiful hike with the stream of water as your scenery. The hike is relatively easy and you are met by a beautiful waterfall at the end.” –Sylvia from Florida

3. Fort Mountain State Park

“The State park is a must see. Hiking and walking trails. Bike trails. Cabins and canoes for rentals. The park is clean and monitored heavily. A place for tent camping, as well as motor home camping. Fishing and swimming in the lake.” –Tina from Chatsworth

3. Amicalola Falls State Park

“Amicalola Falls State Park is a fun way to experience breathtaking scenery and get some exercise, all while socially distancing in North Georgia. My husband and I climbed the stairs to the top of the falls and hiked on several trails. The Appalachian Trail starts here, and that’s pretty exciting. There’s a restaurant and gift shop in the lodge at the top, along with a panoramic porch where you can sit and enjoy the scenery.” –Amy from South Carolina

4. Red Clay State Historic Park

“This place offers a nice glimpse into Cherokee and Native American history with many different Native American artifacts on display in it’s museum. Plus the Blue Hole has an interesting story and it is pretty neat to see. It’s been many years since I’ve visited but I am planning a return trip with the hubby soon. It’s a good place to take the kids for historical educational pursuits in regards to the local Native American history within which the area is very rich and has a plethora of knowledge of the Cherokee culture and way of life.” –A.C. from North Carolina

5. Poole’s Mill Park

“This park was built around an area that was once a mill. There is a covered bridge. There are rocks for kids to slide around on and a rope swing for the braver folks to swing into the water. It was a small playground with slides and swings. A large picnic shelter has bathrooms. This is a great, shady park for little kids to play and splash in the stream.” –Courtney from Cumming
