Why Build with Precision Custom Home Builders? Compare Us With Other Builders

Organization

Precision Homes

Building a custom home requires an organization that can both handle the large amount of information that goes through the office and that can be on jobsites frequently enough to oversee contruction adequately. We build our custom homes as a team and can easily handle all aspects of the project’s management.

Other Builders

Many builders try to handle everything from construction and quality to selections and accounting by themselves. You will quickly find the following problems: Slow construction, quality problems, bad communication, disappointment.

Communication

Precision Homes

We answer phones. We have a team member in our office 100% of the time to answer your questions. If we can’t answer your question, we will get an answer to you quickly.

Other Builders

Many builders are not available to answer your questions because they are on the phone, are on a site that does not have good cell coverage, or because of noise in the back ground. This can quickly become frustrating.

Education

Precision Homes

Dan, the owner of Precision Homes, has an Engineering Degree from Brigham Young University and a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from Villanova University. Jared Ellsworth, Operations Manager, has a degree in Construction Management from Brigham Young University. Among other team members are a degree in interior design, a degree in engineering design, and 2 finance degrees.

Other Builders

Many builders don’t have higher education but if they do, very few have a degree closely related to their field.

Experience

Precision Homes

We are only in the business of building custom homes, nothing else. We have currently built over 150 custom homes in over 20+ years throughout a variety of market and economic conditions.

Other Builders

Many builders or contractors are also in the business of building spec homes, remodeling, commercial work, and in some cases small jobs like building decks and pouring driveways. They do not concentrate or specialize in the field of building custom homes.

Design

Precision Homes

Since we can design and build your house, we not only design your house to fit on your site, it will be designed the way we actually build custom homes.

Other Builders

Most builders do not offer in-house design and will tell you to get your plans from a website, designer, or architect. Since the designer will probably not visit your site and does not know what your site looks like, this may result in changes to the design and additional building costs.

Interior Design

Precision Homes

One of our team members has an Interior Design degree and can help you with all of your selections. This is a huge benefit for most homeowners who need help in this area.

Other Builders

Most builders will give you their opinion but don’t offer much help in this area.

House Plans

Precision Homes

Our house plans are designed exactly how we build. What you see is what you get. Our inhouse plans go through over 200 internal checks which verify that all information needed for construction is on the plans and that subcontractors know exactly how to build each house.

Other Builders

Many plans are very basic and do not have the detail needed for good communication with the customer and the sub-contractors. This also leaves room for surprises and miscommunication between the homeowner and the builder.

Specifications

Precision Homes

Our specifications are very clear and very easy to understand. You will not only know what you are getting in every phase of construction but you will also know what you are not getting. Our specifications reduce potential surprises during construction.

Other Builders

Many builders either rely on the house plans for their specifications or have a simple 1 or 2 page set of specs. This leaves the potential for unwanted surprises and possibly additional costs during construction.

Expectations

Precision Homes

Not only does Dan go over what to expect in building a new custom home with you, he has put together a two page summary of what to expect that is part of your contract.

Other Builders

Most builders don’t address this.

Project Management

Precision Homes

Dan’s background is in project management. Having worked as a project engineer for over 10 years, Dan uses many project management tools to keep our jobs organized and on schedule.

Other Builders

Many builders have experience building but are lacking when it comes to good project management on the jobsite.

Scheduling

Precision Homes

We take scheduling seriously. We use construction scheduling software to help us schedule all of our subcontractors. This helps us reduce delays and hiccups on the job.

Other Builders

Very rarely use scheduling software.

Subcontractors

Precision Homes

We have one subcontractor that we trust for each phase of construction. These subcontractors are the best ones that we can find and that we trust will take care of any issues we find, and they will warrant their work.

Other Builders

Many builders bid out jobs to the cheapest subs to save money. This is bad practice and will lead to problems during construction and after the warranty of the house has expired.

Engineering

Precision Homes

All of our floor trusses, roof trusses, beams, footers, concrete walls, and slabs are either engineered or are inspected by an engineer. We are serious about these areas and want to make sure there are no structural issues in our homes.

Other Builders

Many builders do not use engineers and will rely on the county or city inspectors to catch any potential structural problems.

Quality Control

Precision Homes

We have a quality control system integrated into our construction process. One of our team members inspects every house with over 3000 quality control checks to insure that every house is built to our high quality standard.

Other Builders

Most builders rely on the home owner or the county to find problems and defects. This is not an effective method for quality control.

Construction

Precision Homes

We take construction seriously, period. We have identified many areas of the construction process where we have made improvements on how a house should be built. Our construction process is designed to reduce call backs for subs, punchout, warranty, and to give our home owners the best custom home possible. We have a continuous improvement process where we improve our quality on every home we build. After building over 100 custom homes we have designed a custom home building process that is second to none.

Other Builders

Other builders very rarely have a system to continually improve on every house, reduce punchout and warranty, or to increase customer satisfaction.

Warranty

Precision Homes

Our quality control and thorough final walkthroughs are designed to reduce warranty but when there is an issue you can conveniently send it in through our website. We offer a 30 day adjustment after you move in and will respond immediately in the case of an emergency. At 11 months simply send in your warranty items and we will get those items scheduled immediately.

Other Builders

This is usually a weak area for other builders and many times this is dragged out for months after the warranty period ends if it is even addressed at all.

We simply build a better home.
