Dawson County
Dawson County in North Georgia is one of the most beautiful places to live and visit. Here are the three best places to visit if you’re in the area, according to Trip Advisor.
Amicalola Falls State Park
Arguably one of the most gorgeous places in the state, this beautiful waterfall is located inside the Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawson County. With three ways to get to the top of the falls – by car using a mountain road, by climbing more than 600 steps straight up the falls, or by taking a primitive hiking trail beside the waterfall – the view from the top is breathtaking. This is a wonderful spot to take in the views, enjoy a picnic below the falls, or test yourself with a challenging hike. For those wanting to lengthen their hike, at the top of the falls you can take the Springer Mountain approach trail. This challenging hike climbs in elevation, with the nearly 8-mile one-way trip ending atop Springer Mountain, where the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail is marked by a plaque at the peak. Be sure to stop in at the Amicalola falls State Park visitor center, where you can find snacks, drinks, and some great souvenirs, as well as restrooms and air conditioning (which is great after a long hike). And be sure to bring your phone or camera to capture some memories at this beautiful location!
Burt’s Farm
Burt’s Family Farm is a favorite among locals and visitors, alike! Open in the Fall and Spring, Burt’s Farm offers great family friendly activities such as hay rides, a pumpkin patch, colorful views of the Fall foliage, and a country store complete with gourds, corn stalks, hay bales, and more great seasonal decorations. Burt’s is described as a clean and family-friendly environment with great pumpkin pie – a “must visit” for families!
Georgia Racing Hall of Fame
If you’re already a fan of racecars, you probably already know about this top-tier racing museum, featuring in-depth exhibits about cars and racing in Georgia. Fans of NASCAR, North Georgia history, cars, and racing memorabilia will all enjoy this unique museum experience. Visitors say the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame “blew me away” and the displays are “nothing short of spectacular.” And for the low price of $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and just $5 for children, this is a great option for a family outing.
