Garage Efficiency
When you build a custom home, energy efficiency is important. But what you might not have considered is the efficiency of your garage door. Here are some tips to make sure your garage door is as efficient as possible! Check out the infographic below for a checklist of items to focus on to maximize efficiency.
Insulate
Just like the rest of your house, it’s important to insulate your garage and garage door properly. It’s important to make sure the door itself is insulated, the seal between floor and walls is insulated, outlets should be insulated, and the garage walls should be insulated.
Seal Cracks
One thing you might not consider when it comes to efficiency are cracks in the garage floor. If you notice a crack in the garage floor, use concrete sealant to help prevent heat from escaping or cold air from seeping in.
Windows and Lights
Use Energy Star certified windows and low-watt light bulbs such as CFL or LED to make sure you aren’t wasting energy, and money! Check out the infographic for specific items to watch out for when it comes to garage efficiency!
