Building a custom home also means choosing custom landscaping! Here are some landscaping ideas to brighten up the outside of your new custom home!
Flowers and bulbs
What better way to welcome guests, and yourself, to your home, than with bright beautiful flowers in the front yard? One great way to integrate colorful flowers into your yard is with a variety of bulbs. This way, every spring you’ll get a new pop of color, and you won’t have to worry about planting a new batch of flowers each spring!
Use height
When you think of landscaping your new yard, you may only have the ground level in mind, but adding height with hanging planters, medium and tall bushes, shrubs, and trees, can add depth and interest to your exterior! Blooming bushes and flowering trees can add more color, while greenery can add depth and layers to your yard.
Point of Interest
Considering yard decor is another way to up your home’s curb appeal and add interest to your yard. Bird baths make a beautiful, low-maintenance addition, while fountains can be a lovely centerpiece. Some other ideas may be adding a garden bench, large stone features, a walkway or arch with vines, or having a few bird houses or bird feeders.
Choosing plants for a North Georgia yard
Landscaping is a selections-stage decision, so it is worth thinking about while your home is still on paper. There are plenty of options that do well here: bulbs that re-emerge each spring for an early pop of color, blooming ornamental trees like cherry and pear, native trees such as redbud and dogwood, and flowering bushes like azaleas and hydrangeas.
Walking an established neighborhood in spring is one of the easiest ways to see how these mature — what a plant actually looks like at ten years old, and how it sits next to everything around it.
